Tips for Installing Win9x/ME to an Existing Win9x/ME Multi-OS Partition

The following tips will ease your installation of Win9x/ME to a Multi-OS partition already containing Win9x/ME. If you are not using the Multi-OS feature of BootIt NG then these tips do not apply to you.

  • Delete the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT and C:\CONFIG.SYS files before beginning setup.

  • If you recieve the SU0168 (already has an OS) message, then when you return to the Command Prompt, rename C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM to something else. When you're done with the installation, and before you reactivate BootIt NG, you should rename the file back to C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM.
