PHYLock Must be Reinstalled After Upgrading to Windows Vista or Windows 7/8.x/10

If you have PHYLock installed under a prior version of Windows and then perform an upgrade installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7/8.x/10, you must reinstall PHYLock if you wish to use it under the new version of Windows.  This is necessary in order for the correct version of the PHYLock driver to be installed.

Instructions for Updating PHYLock

The PHYLock component of the Image for Windows installation package is selected by default.  If you didn't deselect PHYLock upon installation, there should be a shortcut to PHYLock setup under the Start menu.

  1. If you have a shortcut for PHYLock setup under your Start menu, run it now and then skip to Step 2 below.  If you have no such shortcut, download the latest version of PHYLock that is compatible with the version of Image for Windows you wish to use:

After downloading, extract the PHYLock archive and run SETUP.EXE.

  2. The PHYLock Setup window will appear.

    • If the PHYLock Setup window presents an Uninstall button, continue at Step 3 below.

    • If the PHYLock Setup window presents an Upgrade button:

      1. Click the Upgrade button.
      2. Click OK to allow PHYLock Setup to exit.
      3. Run SETUP.EXE again and continue at step 3 below.  You do not need to reboot at this point.

  3. Click the Uninstall button and then click OK to allow PHYLock Setup to exit.  You do not need to reboot at this point.

  4. Run the PHYLock Setup shortcut or SETUP.EXE a final time.

  5. Click the Begin Install button on the PHYLock Setup window and then click OK to allow PHYLock Setup to exit.

  6. Reboot to activate the new PHYLock driver.
