How to Create a Bootable DOS Diskette Under Windows XP

A bootable DOS diskette can be used to run Image for DOS.  To create a bootable DOS diskette under Windows XP, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Insert a floppy diskette. (Note: Make sure the floppy you insert does not contain any data you need, as the disk will be wiped clean in later steps.)

  2. Double-click the My Computer icon on your Desktop or click the Start button and then My Computer.  Find your 3½ Floppy (A:) drive in the My Computer window.

  3. Right-click the 3½ Floppy (A:) drive in the My Computer window and select Format....

  4. In the Format 3½ Floppy (A:) window, select the Create an MS-DOS startup disk option.

  5. Click Start.

If any errors occur during formatting, try another floppy disk.
