Can I Restore Images on a File-by-File Basis?

The imaging functionality of TeraByte Unlimited products is generally designed to create and restore complete images of a partition. However, you can restore individual files from images using the free utility TBIView. TBIView can be run in Windows (NT or later) or in Image for Linux. If you wish to back up or restore certain files on a file-by-file basis, you can also complement your image backup by using a archiver utility (e.g. WinRAR or WinZip).

There are several different backup solutions that can be achieved using partition images and/or compressed file archives. For example, you could occasionally create partition images and, in between partition images, use an archiver utility to automate the backing up of data files and/or folders. In this case, you could even create and update the ZIP archive on CD-RW packet-formatted media, because (in the case of needing a total system restore) you would restore the partition image, which gets the system running with CD-RW packet support. Then you could restore the files from the ZIP archive.
